The funniest saddest sculpture in the world
pedestals, performers, variable duration
The performance begins with two performers entering the space and standing on two pedestals, one red, the other yellow. The first actress starts to laugh, soon joined by the other. After a few seconds, the laughter of the first subsides and gives way to tears. Both actresses then alternate between laughter and tears, shifting from one to the other gradually, and playing out every possible combination of the two actions (one sobbing as the other laughs, one starting to laugh as the other starts to sob, etc.) The piece ends with the performers making eye contact, stopping, and then exiting the space.
